Jablunkov
Jablunkov is situated in the Frýdek-Místek District and it is the most eastern town in the Czech Republic.
Population on June 30, 2001: 5,930 inhabitants (men: 2,301, women: 2,484, children up to 15 years: 1,145), 73% of the Czech nationality, 23% of the Polish nationality and 3% of the Slovak nationality.

The town?s dominant sight is its historical square with fountain and baroque statue of the Immaculata from 1655, the Renaissance parish church of Corpus Christi (1620) rebuilt in the neo-gothic style, the oldest princely town house (16th century), old monastery with surviving vaults (1861) and convent of the Order of Saint Elizabeth (1928).

The town and its surrounding present tourist and recreational paradise. Silesian Beskydy, Moravian-Silesian Beskydy and Slovak Beskydy surround it. In summer you can enjoy tourist routes both for walkers and cycle-tourists, you can visit the swimming pool with helter-skelter in Jablunkov or swimming pools and sports ground in nearby recreational facilities. In winter there is the possibility of skiing (ski lifts to Bahenec, Velký Polom, Skalka, Kozubová, both at Dolní Lomná and Horní Lomná, at Mosty u Jablunkova and at Hrádek).

Plní funkci základního stupně územní samosprávy a v různé míře je také vykonavatelem státní správy.
